Feeling Disconnected? Start Small

Feeling a little disconnected lately? If that’s you, start small.

Small acts of kindness really can go a long way. Help someone. Send a meaningful card or gift. These little moments remind us that we are not alone. Because we are better together. Interestingly, science actually agrees with this.

According to research from a neuroscientist at Georgetown University, helping others is one of the most foolproof ways to increase happiness and connection. Even small acts of kindness can create what researchers call a “warm glow” in the brain and strengthen our sense of connection with others. To learn more, full article HERE!

In other words, the things that truly make us feel happier are often the simplest. Here at Mango and Main, we see this all the time in our community. Small gestures can brighten someone’s entire day. Some of our favorite ways to lead by example include:

• bringing a neighbor’s trash bins up the driveway
• helping someone carry heavy boxes down the sidewalk
• dropping off soup and tea for a friend who is feeling under the weather
• volunteering at a local food pantry
• mailing a funny card and a chocolate bar to someone who needed a lift

None of these things are big or newsworthy. Although, every single one of them helps someone feel seen, supported, and connected. Those small moments matter more than we often realize.

Research shows that helping others doesn’t just help the person receiving kindness. It also improves our own mood and strengthens our relationships and sense of community. And sometimes the easiest way to reach out is with a simple, thoughtful gift. A handwritten card. A cozy mug and tea. A bracelet with a meaningful message. A little something that lets someone know you’re thinking of them.

Our shop is here for you when you’re looking for a meaningful way to reach out and brighten someone’s day. Every product we carry supports artisans around the world while helping create moments of connection closer to home. Because we are always better together.
