Ila Joi- Kenscoff, Haiti
What began as a gathering of three mothers crafting together under a tent in the months following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, has now launched into a faith-based artisan group that gathers together to create paper bead jewelry and accessories. These women are known as Ila Joi (pronounced "eela jwah" by our Creole speaking friends). To us, the name Ila Joi means "From the island rejoicing." They are committed to empowering Haitians to realize their God-given talents in order to earn a sustainable income to provide for their families.
