Gifts for the Traveler

Hand-Woven Iraca Fans!

Large: 27cm W x 15cm H ( 11" x 6")

Fair Trade, woven in Colombia

As a product of Belart Fair Trade, this piece embodies our commitment to sustainable employment for communities in post-conflict regions in Colombia. This ornament not only enhances your holiday decor but also preserves eroding traditions and celebrates Colombia’s rich biodiversity. Crafted by our artisan partners, it's a perfect blend of tradition, artistry, and social consciousness.

Iraca (Toquilla palm) is a sustainable Colombian fiber prized for its traditional use in the famous Panama hats, bags, and jewelry. In our solar-powered workshop, artisans transform these palm fibers using ancestral techniques - harvesting, carding, and naturally dyeing with seeds, leaves, and minerals. The fibers are carefully wood-fired dyed and shade-dried before skilled weavers create our timeless fair trade pieces.
